The Education Exchange TEACHER-MENTOR and "Train-the-Trainer" Programs
|
Our (2.5 hour) in-service program and our optional 1-day workshop creates a school-wide, community-wide network of mentors. We believe this important in-service training program should be a part of every school in America, because we believe that ALL CHILDREN ARE AT RISK. We teach a 10 - step mentoring system to educators, counselors, social workers and administrative staff to help them focus children on success. Our WORKSHOPS are conducted nationwide for school districts and staff, including: educators, administrators, school counselors, Gear-Up, Talent Search, and Title1 staff. The goal of FOCUS ON SUCCESS is to help create a school-wide, community-wide network of mentors. When teachers use successful mentoring techniques with all children in the classroom, and parents learn how to become coaches and mentors to their own children, then all children will have mentors.

The FOCUS ON SUCCESS Workshop TM uses Mentoring techniques, MindMapping and Conflict Resolution strategies with proven success in changing outcomes for students with or at risk of developing emotional or behavioral problems, and focusing them on setting high goals and achieving them.

FOCUS ON SUCCESS Training Program:
"Train-the-Trainers" teach mentoring skills to parents.
Successful parenting is not "conditional" love. That is, "Ill love you if... you do what I want you to do." A tough approach to loving a child may end up building barriers between a parent and a child, may diminish the childs authenticity, and may create a barrier between the child and society.
Parents, as mentors, may invite other family members, friends, or experts, to act as role-models, or points of inspiration at different stages of their childs life. These people may already be playing an active role in the life of the child. The keyword here is "active," for successful child-rearing is not passive.
Highly effective parents, who successfully raise their children to become responsible adults will understand that these 10 Golden Rules are a transforming process that will change both them and their children in a positive way. The process will deepen and strengthen family relationships where the love is already strong. It will remind families in conflict that underneath the chaos and turmoil there is a solid bedrock of love.
